PTSC M&C KICK-OFFS THE NOC GALLAF BATCH 1 TOPSIDES PROJECT

(26/11/2018)

On November 14, 2018, North Oil Company (NOC), a joint-venture between Qatar Petroleum (Qatar) and Total (France), officially awarded the EPCIC2 Contract for Al-Shaheen Field Gallaf Project (Batch 1) to PTSC Mechanical and Construction (PTSC M&C).

The Gallaf Project is part of the Al-Shaheen Field expansion development plan. The Al-Shaheen oil field is located in Qatari waters 70 kilometers north of the Qatar coast. The Al-Shaheen Field is Qatar’s largest offshore oil field, and one of the largest offshore oil fields in the world. The field was developed through several phases, with further development phases envisaged by NOC, the new operator of the Al-Shaheen concession since July 2017.

NOC, in an effort to improve field production capacity, initiated the Gallaf project in early 2018. The Gallaf project will install eight (8) new wellhead platforms (WHP) in addition to the existing Al-Shaheen field development. The project is planned to be developed in three (3) batches:

-Batch 1: Three (3) new WHPs (EG, FC and DC) bridge-linked to existing platforms.

-Batch 2: Two (2) new WHPs (EH, CE) bridge-linked to existing platforms.

-Batch 3: Three (3) new WHPs remote connected to existing platforms.

In accordance with the project development plan following a significant screening, bidding and negotiation process, PTSC M&C has successfully secured the Gallaf Project Batch 1 topsides, bridges, and integration works.

PTSC M&C’s scope of work includes: detailed engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, load-out, sea-fastening, transportation and installation, hook-up, and commissioning, modification and integration for the three (3) new wellhead platforms (weighing ~3,000 MT each) and three (3) bridges (weighing ~1,000 MT each). The project launched November 2018, with a scheduled completiong of offshore commissioning in Q42020, and handover to NOC by the end of 2020.

To launch the project, NOC and PTSC M&C held a kick-off meeting at PTSC M&C’s office in Vung Tau, Vietnam, on November 21, 2018. The meeting was attended by representatives from NOC, PTSC M&C's Board of Directors, and both Project Management Teams (PMTs). Immediately following the kick-off meeting, PTSC M&C commenced the detailed engineering activities, with support from TechnipFMC.
