Launching of barge Cat Dien 02

On October 28th, 2010 at Hamlet No. 3, Phuoc Khanh Commune, Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai Province, PTSC Shipyard has successfully launched new-built barge Cat Dien 02.

Launching of barge Cat Dien 02

Cat Dien 02 is a self-propelled barge designed for mud carriage with the deadweight of 1,000m3 and engine capacity of 640BHP. The barge has the length overall of 58m, breadth of 11.5m, draft of 4.2m and depth of 3.3m. The barge was designed by Sesco and classified by VR with the river operating range (class SI).

The barge is one of the new-built project by Nhon Trach Specialized Vessel Building Company, Ltd. which was started from early 2009 with keel laying on October 2009. Due to the financial difficulty of Vinashin Group during 2009-2010, the project was prolonged and then transferred to PTSC Shipyard.

The launching of barge Cat Dien 02 is a remarkable event recognising the efforts of PTSC Shipyard’s management & employees, as well as the determination of PTSC in re-vitalizing the company from difficulties when it was handed over to PTSC from Vinashin. PTSC Shipyard is currently expediting its construction works, fortifying its infrastructure in order to put the Nhon Trach Shipyard to stable operation in conformity with development strategies of PTSC and PetroVietnam.
