Su Tu Nau EPCIC Contract Signing Ceremony

Having attended the ceremony were there Mr. Tran Thanh Tung- Director General, Exploration and Production Department, Directorate of Energy, Ministry of Industry and Trade; Dr. Do Van Hau, President and CEO of PetroVietnam (PVN); Mr. Nguyen Hung Dung, Vice President of PVN; Dr. Ngo Huu Hai, Vice President of PetroVietnam Exploration and Production Corporation (PVEP); Mr. Phan Thanh Tung, General Director of PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC); Mr. Nguyen Quang Hieu, PTSC M&C’s Deputy Director; along with other representatives of Binh Thuan local authorities. Partners in Block 15.1 of Cuu Long JOC including Perenco, KNOC, and Geopetrol also turned up at the ceremony.

As part of its strategic plans to supplement the national energy demand, Cuu Long JOC has envisaged expanding its oil and gas exploration and production activities to the north of Block 15-1 at Su Tu Nau Field, offshore Vietnam. And the field is developed using two unmanned four-pile wellhead platforms tied back to existing infrastructure designed to produce approximately 50 MBOPD of oil and 50 MBLPD of total liquid.  

The Su Tu Nau work-scope encompasses detailed engineering, procurement, construction, transportation and installation, hook-up and commissioning of two wellhead platforms namely Su Tu Nau North and Su Tu Nau South, coupled with the modification work of existing platforms (WHP-A, WHP-B, Su Tu Vang Central Processing Platform) and 60-km pipelines. The project weighs more than 8,500 tons.

PTSC M&C as a qualified and capable contractor experiencing more than twelve years in the oil and gas technical service segment has been delightfully awarded the EPCIC contract by Cuu Long Joint Operating Company.

The project is scheduled to be completed within 18 months. More specifically, the offshore installation campaign is phased over two periods. Particularly two jackets were successfully installed in October 2013, ready for CLJOC’s early drilling campaign in 2013 while topsides and pipelines shall be installed in August 2014.

The contract signing ceremony is the result of the dedicated and cooperative negotiation process between Cuu Long JOC and PTSC M&C, on a win-win spirit. It marks an important milestone for the Su Tu Nau Project that shall be a determining factor helping grow and enhance the long-standing relationship between Cuu Long JOC and PTSC M&C.

In addition to the Su Tu Nau Project, PTSC M&C has also been carrying out the Su Tu Vang South West Project developed by Cuu Long JOC simultaneously at block 15.1, offshore Vietnam. The detailed engineering and procurement of the project have been well executed at PTSC M&C’s office in Vung Tau City. The project is tentatively scheduled for completion in Q3/2014.

Delivering his speech at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Phan Phuc, Cuu Long JOC General Manager highlighted that though achievements were sustainable, Cuu Long JOC deeply understood there would be a lot of challenges and difficulties ahead, especially in achieving First Oil of Su Tu Nau and Su Tu Vang South West Projects in Q4/2014. And CLJOC believed that with the righteous orientation and instruction of PetroVietnam and PVEP, the constructive support of CLJOC’s partners in block 15.1 and PTSC M&C as a prime EPCIC contractor, these two mentioned project would be successfully delivered on-time, under the safe-manner and within the approved budget.
